Nobody Cares About Your Broken String
Sure, they care about it if it keeps you from getting the job done. But it’s your job not to let it keep you from getting the job done.
This, incidentally, is why practicing with a broken string can be a valuable exercise. Not that you want to go out of your way to break a string, but if it happens during rehearsal, best to play through it so when the same thing happens in a gig situation, you have trained yourself not to panic but rather to finish the song and get the job done.
You may care that you broke a string, but nobody else does. They just want to hear the song.
