Tab: Guitar Solo for Del Shannon’s “Runaway”

Several years ago my band Chin Waggers started playing this classic by Del Shannon. I couldn’t find any tab for the keyboard solo transcribed for guitar so I made something up and it has served me well for a long time.

This isn’t an exact transcription — not even close. What I did was listen to the keyboard solo and try to capture the essence of it. I got the melody into my head and then created something based on similar themes. It isn’t what’s on the record but it sounds good and is fun to play.

This is one of my first attempts at writing serious tab, so hopefully it came out okay. If you’re not sure how to read it, check out the guide at OLGA. I’ll try to get an mp3 up one of these days so you can hear what this sounds like but I make no promises regarding timetable on that.
