Ankle Tattoo Blues: Vocals
When in doubt, use brute force. I deleted three or four songs from the Compact Flash card and tried again. I was able to record vocals but there were still problems with the playback. If I just played the song straight through, I couldn’t hear vocals at all. If I stopped the song and then pushed play again, I could hear them to a point. Then I got a horrible mechanical screeching noise and the vocals disappeared.
Still, in my mind this represented progress. So I tried laying down the track again and this time everything came through just fine.
Well, almost.
My vocal performance wasn’t up to par. Here’s a neat little paradox: I can play guitar all day but usually don’t need more than one or two takes to record a decent track. It may take me 10 or more takes to get the vocals down, yet I’m wiped after two or three tries. I’ll take a couple more stabs at it today. If it ain’t happening, I’ll try again tomorrow.
My goal is to have this piece completed by the end of February. I still plan on reaching that goal.
