Ankle Tattoo Blues: Keyboards

Keyboards have been recorded. Not sure if they’ll make the final cut. I spent a lot of time working on them but I’m disappointed in the phrasing.

With a guitar, once I learn a part, I can focus all my attention on the performance. With keyboards, I’m pretty much thinking about hitting the right notes. That’s not really what you want to think about when you’re playing.

I’ll let it sit for awhile and see how it sounds with a fresh ear. Could be that I’ll end up recording a third guitar track or maybe add some harmony vocals. Then again, maybe a cheesy keyboard part is exactly what the song needs.

No regrets, though. It was ambitious to think that I could just sit down and bang out piano parts after all these years. But I’m glad I tried. Even if I don’t end up using them, I had a blast.
